Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary the Past & Present Account of Activities

Keoladeo National Park was in the past known as Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary, located at Bharatpur is very famous bird sanctuary known for rare endangered species of birds. Siberian cranes find this place more suitable during their migratory trip in winters.

The sanctuary dates back around 250 years and bears the name after Keoldeo temple present within the sanctuary. It happened to be a naturally occurring depression of land which got filled with water flooding after the construction of Ajan Bund by the then king Suraj Mal, who was ruling Bharatpur a princely state. The construction of bund was done where the two river waters of the Gambhir and Banganga merged together.

Initially the park was mainly used for hunting place. The maharajas of Bharatpur; were carrying on this tradition since 1850. There was duck shooting in an organized manner every year to honor of the British viceroys. During one of such shooting spree, more than 4000 birds including mallards and teals were killed by the then Governor-General of India. Fort Chanwa, Near Jodhpur a Heritage Hotel Attracting Tourists

During the period of 1894, Kaviraj Muraridan ji was offered a Jagir comprised of hamlet named Chanwa. It was not very well known. He created a little Palace looking like a fortress, which is now known as Chanwa Fort.

During the period 1992, when Rajasthan became destination of tourism for the fast growing tourist traffic to western Rajasthan and influenced by the wave of restoring heritage properties, this fort was included in the heritage properties list and after restoration work was converted into heritage hotel and all the amenities to look after comfortable stay were created meeting the needs of modern traveler.

Super Excited Environment in Kite Festival Celebration at Jaipur

Celebration of kite festivals is fixed on 14th of January, every year at Jaipur. There is lot of excitement among persons engaged in kite flying, forgetting every thing for the moment.

There are such a large numbers of kites flying in the sky covering up almost 75% of sky in the crowded areas of the city, where the children and young are collected on the roof wearing fancy clothes and playing their favorite music songs. Sense of competition prevails and every one considers himself a hero in the sport of kite flying. Some of the kites are having printed photographs of favorite film stars, politicians etc.

The shop keepers engaged in selling kites do a roaring business and stock great variety of kites of different colors, sizes and shapes. The shop keepers sell special thread, which is coated with fine glass particles and it has ability to cut the opponent’s kite thread while it is allowed to move over the thread of another kite. The cut kite falls down and there are boys on the street ready to plunder the cut kite.
